Why are some people so selectively green?

he benefits financially by saving on gas. he makes no money by recycling. he is thinking only of his own convenience and comfort. also i heard about an article that states that to dispose of a battery for a hybrid vehicle it causes more pollution that all the fumes cause by gas exhaust from a comparable gas engine. but of course that pollution does not stay in the US, it will most likely be dumped in India so I guess your "buddy" there will not mind that either
