Is the creation of a zionist state due more to Christianity than anything else?

The resources - political,military and diplomatic - were and are produced from Christian-majority nations. Since any Christian will believe in the OT which includes the famous God-grant business,isn't zionism - not conceptually,but in execution - primarily a Christian phenomena?
